50 Authentic American Experiences
Here you'll find 50 picks one for each state of unique places, activities and events that you might not have considered the last time you traveled
Anyone who's seen Brad Pitt's film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford a movie that's nearly as long as the entire life of the infamous outlaw you know that James didn't exactly go out in a blaze of glory. In 1882, a member of his own gang gunned him down inside his own house as he stood to straighten a picture. Today in St. Joseph, his house remains intact. The picture (a framed needlepoint reading ironically, "God Bless Our Home") still hangs on the wall, and next to it, a bullet hole where legend has it the assassin's bullet ended up.
1202 Penn St., St. Joseph; 816-232-8206; Admission: $3.
