Finding God on YouTube
Faith leaders of all flavors have discovered the video pulpit
Pastor Harold is not classically mediagenic. The head of Get Ready Ministries in Phoenix is sometimes poorly lit and occasionally floats out of the frame; every once in a while, his sermons are punctuated by the sound of a dog barking. Rotund and verbally unpolished, Harold would never make it on TV. But on the Web, his 49 videos based on the theology known technically as pre-millennial dispensationalism roughly, the faith illustrated in the Left Behind books pick up over 5,000 viewers apiece. Harold believes that the seven-year Tribulation, complete with blood, fire and antichrist, is about to begin. He preaches Christians must prepare for the Second Coming, of which, he says, "we're right at the doorstep."
