This year, about 182,000 women in the U.S. will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That means that an American woman's chance of developing the disease during her lifetime is about 1 in 8. But there is good news: the number of women receiving mammograms and doing self-exams is increasing, raising the odds of early detection, while new research and treatments continue to lower the death rate from breast cancer each year. Here are the latest developments that are helping more breast cancer patients become breast cancer survivors.
