Voters may need to bring study guides into the booth with them on Election Day. Thanks to well-funded and persistent special interest groups, about 150 ballot initiatives and propositions are up for consideration in more than 30 states.

Abolish State Income Tax - Massachusetts

If passed, this referendum will save the average state taxpayer $3,600 per year. Sounds nice, right? Well yes, until you consider that the income tax funds about 40% of the state's budget, which would be cut considerably. Proponents say taxpayers' money is wasted by poor government oversight. The same proposal was rejected by voters in 2002, in a close vote: anti-income tax proponents won a hefty 45% of votes.
