Top 10 Ballot Measures

This amendment would put into explicit law what is already the case in Missouri — that government meetings be conducted in English. Supporters say the measure ensures that government is open and easily understood by the population. Opponents, however, say it's a camouflaged attempt to cash in on anti-immigrant sentiment for politics' sake. In Oregon, a measure is on the ballot to limit non-English speakers to two years of biligual education in the public schools. After two years, the students would have to move to mainstream classes conducted only in English.
