In 2000, 7-11 chains countrywide introduced a coffee competition wherein customers are given the chance to weigh in on the election through their choice of coffee cup — blue for Democrats, red for Republicans.

In the past two elections, the 7-11 poll has practically mirrored the final national results. In 2000, Bush cups outsold Gore cups by 1% and in 2004, Bush cups were preferred to Kerry cups 51% to 49%.

Current tally on 2008 cups sold:
60% Obama
40% McCain
