Who's got the best record of predicting election results? Forget the pundits. TIME takes a look at 10 strange (but sometimes true) presidential election predictors

In May, three months before the start of the Democratic National Convention, another group met in Denver for its own annual soiree. The United Astrology Conference held a presidential panel on the final day of its five-day gathering, with all seven panelists predicting a Barack Obama win this prognostication coming before the Democratic primary between Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton had even come to a close. Although astrologists' predictions seem to be met with much less fanfare than other indicators, the panelists "agreed that the passage of Saturn in opposition to Uranus, a phenomenon that begins on Election day and last occurred 45 years ago, signifies social change, transformation, and possibly upheaval" which, according to the astrologers, Obama seems more equipped to bring about.
