Combined his Iowa common sense with his California cool to make cross-disciplined, complex choices about where and how the campaign should spend its money and time. So low-key and low-profile, he made Plouffe look like Paris Hilton, but within the campaign, no one doubted that the Griz was a vital part of the winning effort from the get-go.
