Fish Are Friends

On Friday, Feb. 29, 2000, Presidential hopeful George W. Bush campaigned in Saginaw, Michigan. He gave a speech about energy policy, and said that he would not support the removal of energy-producing dams simply because they endangered fish. Everything was going smoothly until he decided to deviate from the prepared text.

"I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully," he explained.

Bush was right, you know. History has no record of a major fish uprising. (The movie Jaws doesn't count.)
