The Best of the Obama Inaugural Merchandise
Tuesday's presidential swearing in may be a historic, solemn occasion. But this is the U.S., which means that a lot of people are trying to make a buck off the big day. With that in mind, here's a buyer's guide to some of the notable Obama items for sale.
If you've watched cable TV over the past two months, you know all too well that there are a plethora of plates in Obama's honor. There's your classic decorative plate, which can be picked up in any Chinatown souvenir shop nestled among a clutter of Obama mugs, shot glasses, picture frames, mousepads and bobblehead dolls. In anticipation of its front-page swearing-in story, the Washington Post store is selling a $50 plate, which will ship after Jan. 20. Finally, drivers who want to make a statement can buy a license-plate frame dedicated to Obama that is decorated with hearts, American flags and exclamation points (from $14 at gifts.cafepress.com).
