But when the album's title song became a runaway smash hit, Marvin Gaye had his comeback tune. He won two Grammys that night in 1983 (and everyone knew he deserved it — just watch the video and look at that standing ovation). It was just weeks after he had delivered a soulful, extended, astounding performance of the Star-Spangled Banner at the NBA All-Star Game. The league itself called it a "seminal moment in sports history."
