"I Kissed a Girl," Katy Perry

Katy Perry

Mark J. Terrill / AP

The meaning of this song is so hard to infer from the lyrics that Perry probably felt she had no choice but to bring out six female dancers who removed their shirts and allowed Perry — dressed in a sequined bathing suit covered in fruit — to spank them. Oh! Now I get it! Perry's performance was like something Bette Midler might have done in the '70s if the bathhouses were filled with gay women. And if Bette Midler couldn't sing.
Grade: D
