AGE: 47
OCCUPATION: U.S. Treasury Secretary
PREVIOUS APPEARANCES ON THE TIME 100: 0

PRO: Granted, his nomination process was a bit a rocky (who hasn't screwed around with their International Monetary Fund paperwork from time to time?), but Geithner now holds sway over the entire banking industry. Among his unenviable job duties: overseeing the distribution of bailout funds, eliminating toxic assets and restoring confidence.

CON: Wall Street continues to find his plans maddeningly vague.
