Britain's Expenses Scandal: Top 10 Most Outrageous Claims
The U.K. is in the midst of a political scandal surrounding expenses, which were leaked by a British newspaper. From the alleged clearing of a moat (yes, a moat) to dog food, TIME tracks the most outlandish claims made by MPs and covered by taxpayers.
The claim
Traditionally known for its flat-pack furniture, Ikea was where Burnham bought a $30 bathrobe in 2007.
The justification
"I reject absolutely any suggestion that I have not used public funds properly since I entered Parliament."
The response
Burnham has subsequently admitted that claiming for the robe was a "genuine oversight." Upon discovery, he paid the money to the House of Commons Fees Office and he wasn't reimbursed.
