'Laodicean' and Other Spelling Bee Winning Words
Are you smarter than a fifth grader? 13-year-old Kavya Shivashankar won the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, correctly spelling laodicean. Can you spell these winning words from previous years?
Definition: something that one has earned or gained
Winner: 13-year-old Sameer Mishra of West Lafayette, Ind. Spelling runs in his family: Sameer's older sister had tried three times to capture the title, and this was his own fourth and final attempt. Earlier in the competition, he had made a name for himself after he misunderstood a word.
