'Laodicean' and Other Spelling Bee Winning Words
Are you smarter than a fifth grader? 13-year-old Kavya Shivashankar won the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee, correctly spelling laodicean. Can you spell these winning words from previous years?

Winner:: Pratyush Buddiga of Denver, a first-time competitor who later told reporters, "I didn't think I really had a chance to win." That year's competition featured two guests of honor: First Lady Laura Bush, who opened the ESPN broadcast with taped comments commending the contestants, and 88-year-old Frank Neuhauser, who won the first-ever bee in 1925 with gladiolus (a type of flower).
