Series premieres Sept. 24
This season, TV phenomenon Lost leaves ABC, with its island-bound characters trying to solve the sci-fi question: Can you change the future? ABC wants to rewrite its future by cultivating a Lost replacement, with its own complicated mystery, mythology and time-jump high jinks. On FlashForward (yes, it's OneWord), everyone on Earth blacks out at once for 137 seconds, which leads to catastrophe, since some of these people are piloting planes, doing surgery, etc. While out cold, each person has a premonition of the same day, six months from then. Who's behind it, and can the scary future be forestalled? That's the story of the first season. Can the show live up to the flashy, expensive-looking pilot? We'll have to flash forward to Episode 2 to find out.
