Glen Wilson / Columbia Pictures

Opens Oct. 2
You have to imagine the late Don LaFontaine, voice-over guy for 5,000 movie trailers, saying, "In a world overrun by zombies ..." In this world — dreamed up by comedy writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick and directed by Ruben Fleischer, who had something to do with Borat — a nerd named Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg) convenes a few other humans named after Midwestern cities to battle a plague of the slow-walking dead. Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin are among the humans, Bill Murray one of the zombies. The best we could hope for from Zombieland is something as funny and original as Shaun of the Dead, and those are high hopes indeed.
