Top 10 Posthumous Albums
To mark the release of Michael Jackson's highly anticipated This Is It, TIME looks back at the albums that brought fame and fortune to singers after they were gone
Michael Jackson's This Is It
In an effort to squeeze every last drop of cash from the recently deceased King of Pop's empire, Sony Music has cobbled together a two-disc album titled This Is It, "inspired by" a behind-the-scenes Michael Jackson documentary of the same name. Its eponymous single notwithstanding, the album has been dismissed by music critics as yet another in a string of Jacko's souped-up greatest-hits efforts. However, the hype surrounding the album and film has paid off, with advance copies of the album, which dropped Oct. 27, and screening tickets to the film both proving to be coveted items among fans eager to soak up the late singer's legacy. But is this really it? As long as there is still money to be wrung out of the Jackson empire, odds are these tunes won't be the last we hear from Michael.
