Holiday Gift Guide 2009
Books, music, DVDs, games and gifts that give back TIME picks the best offerings for this holiday season
This Cartoon Network series, set between the action of Star Wars episodes 2 and 3, is definitely a kids' show, but that doesn't mean adults can't appreciate its Jedi swashbuckling. Unlike the prequel trilogy which combined the likes of Jar Jar Binks with attempts at dark, adult themes this is a straight-up action show, akin to a short serial feature from an old-time movie house. The episodes deal with skirmishes in the titular wars, many involving Anakin Skywalker and his female padawan apprentice Ahsoka, but it draws widely from the supporting characters. Kids will love the CGI animation, which is top-notch for TV, and parents nostalgic for Luke and Leia will just be grateful for an enjoyable new Star Wars product that doesn't involve Legos.
