Holiday Movie Preview 2009
TIME's Richard Corliss previews the season's best offerings and hottest tickets
Directed by Nancy Meyers
With Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin
Opens Dec. 25
Martin and Baldwin, co-hosts of the next Oscar show, and Streep, who's earned more Oscar nominations than any other actor, team up for this romantic comedy. A baker (Streep) is having an affair with her remarried ex-husband (Baldwin) while juggling the attentions of an architect (Martin) she's hired. In What Women Want and Something's Gotta Give, Meyers turned similar tangles into popular hits. This time, she'll try to make audiences in their teens pay to see the amorous exertions of actors in their 60s.
