Ash Friday: Travel Tales of Woe from the Volcano Snafu
As volcanic ash from Iceland grounds flights across much of Europe for a second day, TIME looks at some of the ways people have tried to get to their destinations

The annual Coachella music festival in California has been rocked by a string of act cancellations. Among the no-shows is British band the Cribs, while Gary Numan fears he won't make the festival in time for his Sunday slot. The legendary artist said he was "very upset to see such a huge opportunity slipping through [his] fingers. I am glued to the TV news at the moment." Welsh group Los Campesinos! and Scottish act Frightened Rabbit are also scrambling to make alternative travel plans. But the good news for fans is that such U.K. acts as Muse, Thom Yorke, Gorillaz, Florence and the Machine and the Specials are already safely ensconced stateside.
