Jerry Lewis has volunteered for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for more than 50 years. The legendary comedian serves as the organization's national chairman, and he hasn't missed a single telethon. It's no joke. The 44th annual Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon last September — 21 and a half hours of fundraising — brought in $60.5 million for "Jerry's Kids." While never recognized by the Academy for his film career, Lewis received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 2009 Oscars.
