On D-Day -- June 6, 1944 -- planes carrying thousands of paratroopers cross the English Channel to France. Following the chaotic drop into Normandy, Lieut. Dick Winters (Damian Lewis) of Easy Company leads a successful attack on a cluster of German artillery pieces.

Two days after D-Day, Easy Company is sent to take the town of Carentan, engaging in a successful battle that results in several casualties.

Lieut. Dick Winters leads a risky mission on a Dutch dike, resulting in a resounding victory, for which he is promoted to Battalion Executive Officer.

In the dead of winter, the men of Easy company struggle to hold the line while fending off frostbite and hunger in the forest outside Bastogne, Belgium.

Having thwarted German attempts to overrun Bastogne, the exhausted men of Easy Company must now take the nearby town of Foy from the enemy.

With the war winding down, the men of Easy Company arrive in the Alsacian town of Haguenau near the German border and are asked to send a patrol across the river to take enemy prisoners.

Easy Company's members finally enter Germany, where they supervise the cleanup of an abandoned concentration camp in which hundreds of emaciated inmates are still imprisoned.
