Nostalgia: Helmet Project
Have you forgotten the look of all 13 different helmets used by the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills in their franchises' histories? (You're not alone.) All of the NFL helmets ever used — as well as those from college, the USFL, XFL and other pro leagues — are on display at this virtual museum. The site also suggests design alternatives for major college programs, including one with Penn State's traditional all-white helmets displaying a logo. Blasphemous.
Blog: Sports by Brooks
Why scour the 'Net for interesting sports news when there are folks out there who will do it for you? That's exactly what Brooks Melchior, an L.A. sports radio host, does each day on his breezy yet informative site. Many of the links slant toward the SoCal scene, but fans from all over the country e-mail Brooks the best stuff from their local papers — or even sports-related jokes from Jay Leno's monologues. Among the rest of the best of a relatively small collection of quality sports blogs (as opposed to, say, the wealth of politics blogs) include SportsFilter, Nothing but Net and Baseball Primer.
