MiniDV may be the most popular recording medium for digital camcorders, but recordable DVD is starting to make a lot of sense. After all, we don't have Mini DV players in our homes, but we do have DVD players. Besides, in a few years blank recordable DVDs will probably be much cheaper than Mini DV cassettes. Panasonic's third-generation DVD camcorder can record to DVD-R for easy playback in many standard DVD players. Or you can use rewriteable DVD-RAM discs to perform editing tasks on the camcorder itself: after you shoot, you can add fade-in or fade-out, throw in limited transitions and even rearrange or delete scenes.
