 |
June 19, 2003
We confess: no surveys were conducted, no scientific methods employed to come up with this year's Fab 50. We just scoured the Web for best-of-breeds and some new faves, and took special pains to pay tribute to the under-appreciated. The Essentials
Yes, we know you know these sites like the back of your hand. But here are some things you may not know: That Google is becoming a great shopping site. That Yahoo! can help you analyze the financial analysts. That Amazon sells nearly everything now. And that Rand McNally's online maps are the best around.
News and Information
The problem with the Web is that there's often too much information out there. Here are some sites to help you keep current without drowning in a sea of useless information.
Lifestyle
There once was a time when you had to actually book flights through a travel agent. When you had to get your recipies from your neighbors. When, for gosh sakes, you had to call your cousin Myron to settle that bar bet about the 1951 Sox. It's all but a painful memory now, and these sites are the reason why.
Entertainment
There's a fine line between sites that are quality entertainment and ones that are a colossal waste of time. Remembering that the merely entertaining has its place, here are some sites to keep you from working on that spreadsheet just yet.
Strictly Broadband
If you're going to run with the big Websites, you need to have the really fat pipes. Here are eight reasons to finally ditch that dialup connection.
