Dell Axim X5
Just as Palm broke the $100 barrier with the Zire, Dell broke the $200 PocketPC barrier with the Axim X5. The main advantage of a PocketPC is that it's preinstalled with "Pocket" versions of programs like Word and Excel, plus Windows Media Player for listening to downloaded music. This one's got a 3.5-in. backlit color display, CompactFlash and SD card slots for memory and accessory expansion, a stereo headphone jack and a built-in microphone for voice recording. One problem: All that stuff makes this a fairly chunky PDA, even before you add optional accessories like the leather carrying case or the TrueMobile Wi-Fi Wireless expansion card.
