Palm Zire
Short on some features but long on style, the Zire was designed as a "my first PDA" for students and other people on a budget. It's no slouch, with a long-lasting rechargeable lithium-ion battery and standard Palm apps, plus the games Mine Hunt, Puzzle, Giraffe, and Hardball. In addition to Palm Desktop, there's even Chapura's PocketMirror, which synchs with Microsoft Outlook. Still, Palm veterans may feel the absence of a backlit screen, and there are no memory-card slots to let you expand on the 2MB of internal memory. Innards aside, the sleek ultra-light white device is almost certain to draw stares of envy on any playground.
