Though not a flat-panel TV, this liquid crystal display set is bright and slender. Instead of juicing up three clunky CRTs, this TV shines a light through three LCD panels, taking their red, green and blue moving images along for the ride. Rear-projection LCDs are known for high resolution, which means that more often than not, they can meet the demands of HDTV. On the downside, they're also known for their poor black levels. A byproduct of displaying so bright an image is that the blacks tend to look grayer than they would on a CRT. The good news for movers: these sets weigh much less than traditional TVs.
