Kodak EasyShare CX7330
Kodak's EasyShare interface is the best there is for beginners whether they are 15 or 50. When you select a preset shooting mode, you see a brief, useful explanation of the mode onscreen. The message appearing with the Night setting, for instance, says, "Use at night to capture both subject and background." The CX7330 takes ease-of-use and adds many of the features of higher-end cameras: the all-important 3X optical zoom lens for getting in close, a movie mode for shooting videos and an AV output to the TV, to display snapshots and videos (with sound). Its 3-megapixel resolution means that while you may not want to make 8x10 prints out of the shots, any print size up to that should look great.
