eMachines T2824
The eMachines T2824 system — with Intel Celeron processor, 256 MB of RAM and a combo drive that burns CDs and reads DVDs — lists for $450, but is available through Halloween with a $50 mail-in rebate. In case you're thinking it must be totally stripped down, software-wise, have no fear: included in the bundled software is the latest Microsoft Works, which includes a full version of genuine Microsoft Word. The deal is even sweeter if you add the eView 17f3 17-in. monitor. Normally $209, there's currently a $100 rebate that drops its price to $109. The catch? You have to buy each one as is from one of eMachines' retailers, like Best Buy or Circuit City. That and the fact that it probably doesn't meet the system requirements of most top-selling PC games.
