Printers are a necessity of home and dorm—and they're no longer just for term papers. Epson's Stylus Photo RX620 scans, copies and prints in full color on both regular and premium photo paper. That means borderless 4x6s, 5x7s and even 8x10s, a photographer's favorite paper size though one not often seen in consumer-grade printers. The combination of technologies, plus a special built-in transparency adapter, means that it can make prints directly from slides and negatives without a computer.

HP's new Photosmart 8250 photo printer wins the speed challenge, with the fastest photo printing we've seen. As long as you use HP's Advanced Photo Paper, you'll be able to print borderless 4x6 shots in just 20 seconds.

For writer types, who don't care about color but want to make sure that their black-and-white prose prints on deadline, the price of laser printers just got ridiculous. Samsung's new ML-2010 prints 22 pages per minute, and has a list price of $150 (which means you might find it even cheaper). If you can sacrifice a little speed, Dell drops the price even lower: its Laser Printer 1100 has a sticker price of $100, but was recently introduced at a sale price of $90 on dell.com.
