SUFFOLK POLICE HO / AP
THE SUFFOLK SERIAL KILLER
In a case reminiscent of Jack the Ripper and Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe, who killed 13 women, mainly streetwalkers between 1975 and 1980, police are investigating another bizarre string of murders. Five women — Gemma Adams, 25; Tania Nicol, 19; Anneli Alderton, 24; Paula Clennell, 24; and Annette Nicholls, 29; all believed to be prostitutes who worked in Ipswitch, England — turned up dead in December in different places in surrounding Suffolk County, about 70 miles northeast of London. Steve Wright, described as a 48-year-old forklift driver, has been arrested and charged with all five murders. He had been living near the area where the girls worked the streets.
