ZIZOU'S MELTDOWN
It was the loudest head-butt in history. During extra time of the World Cup final, with game tied 1-1, France's Zinédine "Zizou" Zidane, who had scored his team's goal earlier in the match, viciously speared Italy's Marco Materazzi in the chest with his noggin. Zidane was ejected from the game. Without its best player, France failed to score, and lost to the Italians on penalty kicks. Materazzi later admitted that he insulted Zidane's sister, setting the French legend off. Despite the global outrage against Zidane's untimely outburst, France forgave its favorite icon. "You are a virtuoso, a genius of world football," said French President Jacques Chirac. "That's why France admires and loves you."
