L.A. STORY
The Los Angeles Dodgers, in the midst of a tight September pennant race, pulled off one of the most dramatic comebacks in baseball history. Trailing 9-5 to the San Diego Padres in the bottom of the ninth, Dodgers Jeff Kent, J.D. Drew, Russell Martin and Marlon Anderson belted four straight home runs, on just seven pitches, to tie the game. L.A. fans, notorious for leaving games early to beat traffic, started a snarl outside Dodger Stadium by making U-turns to return to the game. Dodger first baseman Nomar Garciaparra finished the job in the bottom of the tenth, when his two-run shot gave the Dodgers an 11-10 victory.
