Athenians will say that you must see the islands, and when time is tight, the island they themselves visit is Aegina. It wasn't always so — in the 6th and 7th centuries, Aegina was a maritime power to rival Athens. Now, apart from Athenians' holiday homes, this quiet island is given over to pistachio farms and fishing.
