Historic for its participants if not for its excitement, the U.S. Open women's final saw the first pairing of sisters since 1983 — and the first ever all African-American final. No love match this, the Williams sisters came out swinging from the first. In the end, Serena could not hold off her older sister, whose stinging forehand and powerful serves pounded through the sets. Venus' record against her younger sibling stands at 10-0.
