March turned out to be a very bad month for violence in schools. First, a 15-year-old gunman killed two classmates and wounded 13 others at Santana High School in Santee, California. The next day, a student at a private girls' school in Pennsylvania attempted her own school shooting. Fortunately, she was unsuccessful. The shootings drew the usual back-and-forth from gun control advocates and opponents: Kids with guns are either a sign of overly lax gun laws or of inadequate parenting, depending on your point of view. |
