Saudi Arabia. Yo, you the goat man. Thank you, my man. Ain't got no security. Gotta put that hoodie back on. If you don't already know Drewski. You probably recognize him from somewhere. Look at how smoking. I need to get the word out about how fire switching to T-Mobile actually is. I'm hosting a Bet Awards. He's the host. He is our host. His talent for social media skits featuring hyper specific characters has earned him a reputation as a comedic cultural anthropologist. You got your pads? Yes, ma'am. Okay. Where's your mama? She's back there. How you doing? Soon you'll be able to see him in a Netflix series and a major Hollywood film. So I always was a big fan of like, just people who were great, you know, and not just famous people in general, but like people who really went to like the furthest level of fame or being, you know, successful. You address us as boss. Boss man, CEO. No, no no no no. Hey, boss, boss. I would put on the TV and like we would throw on TMZ or like tonight, uh, entertainment tonight in my bedroom. And my mom would be like, yo, cut that stuff off. But I always had an interest in, like, seeing how, you know, paparazzi would follow these people around because I was like 7 or 8 years old walking up to grown ups that were like parents of the kids I went to school with, and they would know me and my mom would be like, here goes the the local famous guy. They always my family always says local celebrity. Drewski grew up outside of Atlanta. After dropping out of college to pursue comedy, he began uploading videos to Instagram in 2017. Listen, son, you're here. how I like bamboo. Even when I began and I was doing early videos where they were just silly things, and it had no bigger meaning or purpose to the comedy. It was just me being silly. I always would find like some type of way to maximize it. If I had to use my mom's closet as a studio, and I had to go over here and flip the couch upside down and make the put the camera on top of that to make it look like it's a surveillance camera. I don't want to talk 25 to life. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay okay, okay. During the Covid pandemic, comedy started to go viral with some of his videos racking up a million views. His fan base grew as viewers recognized his characters from their own lives. Kyle, come get me, bro. I'm a people person, so I'm able to, like, pull characters from different people. I've always been around my entire life. I don't have to tell y'all this. You are not in preschool. Push it down. And sometimes it's people that I grew up, you know, being around when I was a kid. Okay. Okay. Hey, who are you supposed to be? But there's no, like, technique to. I'm not just talking to the person. Oh, I'm studying this person right now. I think I just naturally a people person. I always talk amongst a variety of people. All right, I got chicken nuggets. I had a guy I went to school with, he went to prison. I had done a prison skit and he he DM'd me on Instagram this long paragraph. He said, I know that was about me, bro. You. And I'm like, no, it wasn't about you, man. He said, I've been in prison. I've been locked in since high school. I know you wrote **** about me. I'm like, bro, I didn't get that from you. But it was from a friend that I had that had done some prison time. But it was just funny that some people do assume and they're completely wrong, you know? But the characters in Drewski skits often push boundaries. Earlier this year, he posted a video of a conservative white woman that many interpreted as a parody of Erika Kirk. I serve a righteous God and that is why we say our prayers. I have comedians dressing up in white face. A few months later, he made a skit about a character named Ray price, a former NFL player suffering from a brain injury, which some former athletes found insensitive. You wouldn't make fun of anyone with breast cancer, so why are we allowed to be made fun of? When I do some of the stuff, it's my intent to put the mirror up to those scenarios. It's like my my type of comedy is to show sometimes how things are right in front of us and we may not notice it, but it's literally right here. It's not always my intent with every skit to have something to do that, you know, I think. But comedy comes from real life things. And sometimes, you know, putting up that mirror, some people would be like, can get sensitive to the subject matter, but it's real things going on in the world. So if I can make this world a better place, hey, we'll do it through comedy. Do you feel like are there lines that you won't cross? Um, I think whatever I find funny is funny. Um, we're not out here just trying to be, you know, these guys are. Oh, let's do this and let's let's push the narrative on this thing for of it. You know, I really, you know, we do what we find funny and, you know, that's how we move about everything. Yeah. Eight is for Apple. Apple B as Drewski s reach has expanded. He's reinvested his earnings back into his videos leading to higher production value. The comedian reaches more than 30 million followers across his social accounts, popularity that he's hoping will translate into traditional media success. I always look at things as like, what's the bigger picture and anything, even if it's this video, what's the bigger picture? Does this become a TV show? Does this become a movie? I always try to find, you know, with anything I'm given. I want to milk the most out of this situation that I have at hand. His Netflix series, coming later this year, is based on one of his existing characters. It's a series called Collect and Praise centered around his megachurch pastor character. Giving his life savings up. So you see these megachurch pastors on TV all the time, and sometimes they're good people, sometimes they're not. You see these different scenarios. And, you know, I grew up going to church all the time, so I always thought certain things were funny. If you watched the guy, uh, Peter Popoff on TV or whatever the guy's name that sells like the holy water. And sometimes the way they talk is funny, you know, and maybe it comes off as if they're not as genuine as they really portray to me. Cause I believe in Christ. We spent like a lot of money on just shooting that two minute version of it. And I was like, yo, this could turn into a TV show. I'm going to impregnate everyone with the Word of God. And I was like, all right, we're just going to shoot it on our own. So we ended up shooting it. And yeah, it's amazing. We're in the editing process now. Dirty dancing. I won't dirty down. I started. Off editing, um, in high school, so I kind of self-taught. And then so being able to know how to edit him and me coming together actually works more efficient. You know? The goal is for him to be the movie star. We know he's going to be. So now, you know, in terms of the new audiences, we're definitely excited. It's like almost like about time. Being able to show my talent in this aspect would be a whole new door and a whole new lane for me. Why is that? Said Drewski already has Hollywood's attention. This summer, he filmed Universal's The Catch, set to hit theaters in 2027 alongside Chris Pine and Emma Stone. We visited him on set where he was eager to give us a tour of his trailer. Come on into my trailer. Come on. So this is my trailer. Give you all a little tour of what I've been going through every day. Spot ain't that big, man. You know, when you. You number three on the call sheet that. I'll get there. I'll get there one day, man. You know, uh, I'll be number one soon. Each day I got about 20 lines I gotta memorize. And then you gotta understand, like I'm throwing some improv in there as well. So I'm constantly, constantly, constantly, constantly, constantly practicing over and over and over. I ain't supposed to be showing y'all this, this Emma Stone trailer right here. Look at the door. Zoom in on the door. All right. Yeah. So compared to my productions, this would be one where I'd say I'm not, like in full control of. It's not weird. I think I'm just, like sitting in a perspective of being a student now, and not so much being the teacher where I'm like, number one on the call sheet of my own production. So, um, yeah, it is interesting. I actually enjoy it though, because I like to sit and watch people that I look up to. So yeah, he's definitely been a great experience working here on this set. This is where I get dressed before I go into my set. It's like I always try to figure out what's this next level I could create, what's the next thing I could do? Um, and not just stay in one category. If I'm funny here, can I not be funny here? Sometimes I lose out on sleep because of this and try to figure out different ways to be great. It's, it can really **** you, but it's good. It's good things, you know, good stress ten, 20 years from now, I just want to be remembered as one of the best and greatest to do it, you know, and ever. I think that's that's my goal is not just being good is being great. So yeah. However, we can make it happen. We're doing it. ```json [{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"Organization","@id":"https://time.com/","mainEntityOfPage":{"@type":"WebPage","@id":"https://time.com/"},"name":"Time","url":"https://time.com/","logo":{"@type":"ImageObject","url":"https://time.com/img/logo.png","width":528,"height":156},"foundingDate":"March 3, 1923","sameAs":["https://www.facebook.com/time","https://www.instagram.com/time/?hl=en","https://twitter.com/time","https://www.pinterest.com/timemagazine"]},{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"BreadcrumbList","itemListElement":[{"@type":"ListItem","position":1,"name":"Home","item":"https://time.com/"},{"@type":"ListItem","position":2,"name":"Video","item":"https://time.com/video/"}]},{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"VideoObject","name":"Druski Breaks Down His Creative Process & How He Comes Up With Characters | TIME","description":"","thumbnailUrl":"https://cdn.jwplayer.com/v2/media/HqL2ipQ1/poster.jpg?width=720","uploadDate":"2026-09-30T19:09:35.000Z","contentUrl":"https://cdn.jwplayer.com/manifests/HqL2ipQ1.m3u8","embedUrl":"https://time.com/video","duration":"PT9M57S","potentialAction":{"@type":"SeekToAction","target":"https://time.com/video?jw_start={seek_to_second_number}","startOffset-input":"required name=seek_to_second_number"}}] ```
